Party backs marijuana use for epilepsy treatment
September 22 , 2023
On September 21, a Komeito team on epilepsy treatment held a hearing with Ministry of Health, Welfare and Labor officials on revising Japan’s cannabis control law to allow the use of hemp for medicinal purposes. Support groups for epileptic patients have been calling for legalization of pharmaceutical properties contained in the hemp. Komeito is willing to endorse amending the law following appropriate discussion, with health ministry looking to submit the proposed revisions during the next session of the Diet.
