UNMAS Director Ilene Cohn and Yamaguchi clasp hands on Sep. 14
On September 14, Komeito Chief Representative Natsuo Yamaguchi greeted Director Ilene Cohn of the UN Mine Action Service. The two exchanged views on ways to support the UN’s demining programs, with the Komeito leader stating that the removal of mines was a vital facet of support for Ukraine. While the director agreed, she added the effort would likely take decades to complete. Yamaguchi said his party was moving ahead on preparations for Japanese demining operations in that country in the event that hostilities ceased there.
