Yamaguchi: Party to push for minimum wage adoption

Speaking at Komeito’s Central Secretariat meeting on July 15, Chief Representative Natsuo Yamaguchi said the party must use its network of national and local legislators to help owners of smaller businesses raise minimum wage in ways that will benefit both workers and management alike. Acknowledging the burden any increase will place on struggling operators, Yamaguchi said the government must provide management with various incentives and programs to support companies in making the effort.The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare is seeking to boost the wage by ¥28 this year.
