On June 23, the two secretary generals of Komeito and its coalition government partner, the Liberal Democratic Party, met to discuss amending the remuneration law for national legislators to enforce salary forfeiture if found guilty of violating the Public Office Election Law. In their meeting, the LDP’s Toshihiro Nikai and Keiichi Ishii of Komeito agreed to examine the issues by the two parties from next week and formulate a bill as early as possible.
