Ukishima: Coverups of sexual violence by schools should not be tolerated

At a June 9 House of Representatives hearing on a bill cracking down on sexual abuse of children by schoolteachers, Komeito’s Tomoko Ukishima declared that the bill should outlaw school administrations and boards of education from covering up such crimes. She said that school officials must be made aware that they will be held legally accountable if they do not report sexually abusive acts perpetrated by a teacher to the proper authorities, not only facing fines but also jail time.Search News
