Party demands apology, retraction over baseless slander aired on satellite TV news show

April 1 , 2021

On March 31, Komeito lodged a strongly worded complaint against “Prime News,” a program aired by satellite TV network BS Fuji, and Isao Iijima, a special advisor to the Cabinet led by Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, on March 30. The party is demanding a formal apology and retraction from the show and political advisor, who openly accused Komeito of election fraud. In its complaint, Komeito blasted Mr. Iijima’s statement as being bereft of any factual basis and “extremely malicious,” while protesting program producers for airing such libelous views.
