Komeito holds online lecture on socially isolated
February 26 , 2021
On February 25, Komeito held an online lecture by Michiko Miyamoto, honorary professor of The Open University of Japan, and Hitobumi Taniguchi, representative of the non-profit organization Student Support Faith, on the need to assist people, particularly women and children, living in social isolation. Prof. Miyamoto called for government aid to single mothers, women working in nonpermanent jobs and youth who cannot depend upon their parents for subsistence—those most vulnerable to the economic impact of the pandemic. Mr. Taniguchi said existing public outreach programs fall far short in their coverage, citing the need for trained personnel and multilayered assistance that offer viable solutions to young people facing a complex web of problems.Search News
