Yamaguchi looking forward to Biden-Suga summit
January 22 , 2021
At a press conference held on January 21, Komeito Chief Representative Natsuo Yamaguchi extended his felicitations to US President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. and Vice President Kamala Devi Harris. He urged the American president and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga to communicate with each other as soon as possible, first by phone and then later in person, in an effort to further fortify bilateral relations. Yamaguchi cited President Biden’s decision to rejoin the Paris Agreement on climate change and World Health Organization as steps marking the US’s return to multilateralism, aligning with Japanese interests. As such, Yamaguchi said it was imperative for all countries to cooperate in battling the coronavirus pandemic and expressed his hope that the new US administration would assume a leadership position in that battle.Search News
