Komeito fetes 56th year of founding
November 18 , 2020
On November 17, Komeito Chief Representative Natsuo Yamaguchi spoke at a press conference, referring to the party’s 56th founding anniversary on that day. Komeito, he explained, was founded in 1964 in response to the political dynamic of the Cold War era, when the conservative Liberal Democratic Party was pitted along ideological lines against its primary adversary, the former Japan Socialist Party. That left a large segment of the populace with very little political voice, which Komeito embraced as its mission to reflect in the mainstream legislative discourse, he said. The party has persisted with its founding mission ever since, introducing a broad array of policies and programs in the realms of social services and education, environmental protection and healthcare.Search News
