Yamaguchi calls for use of state reserve funds to protect jobs

On August 18, Natsuo Yamaguchi met with reporters and called on the government to determine as quickly as possible what would be the best policy package to promote social and economic activity during the pandemic. The Komeito chief representative made the statement following the news that Japan’s GDP contracted by 27.8% in the April-June quarter. He said the government should extend and continue programs enabling companies to keep workers beyond the current September-end deadline, as Komeito has recommended.
