Komeito appeals for peace on anniversary of war’s end
August 15 , 2020
On the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II, Komeito renewed its commitment to peace worldwide while offering prayers for all the victims of the conflict, both in Japan and across the world. Among the points raised in the party statement, released annually, was the imperative of dialogue carried out with composure and perseverance to resolve conflicts, build confidence and enhance cooperation among nations. It cites the United Nations as the fulcrum for establishing a broadly inclusive partnership and the need to augment and amplify the UN’s role in achieving that end, particularly in an age in which mistrust and tension between the United States and the People’s Republic of China are on the rise. Komeito’s peace appeal also urged global cooperation in the battle against the coronavirus pandemic, in prohibiting and abolishing nuclear weapons and in meeting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).Search News
