Yamaguchi: Urgent need to bolster pandemic healthcare system
August 4 , 2020
On August 3, representatives of the coalition government, including those from its two partner parties the Liberal Democratic Party and Komeito, met at the Prime Minister’s Residence in Tokyo to be briefed on the pandemic and other pressing issues. Komeito Chief Representative Natsuo Yamaguchi reiterated his party’s concerns for the nation’s preparedness against the pandemic’s 2nd wave, citing the imminent shortage of hospital beds and other facilities for milder-symptom patients. He called for steps to bolster the public health center system as well as greatly expanding the PCR testing regime over the short term and, over the long term, to secure COVID-19 vaccines and therapies.Search News
