On July 28, a disaster response committee hearing was convened jointly by the House of Representatives and House of Councilors to provide assistance to victims of the torrential rains and flooding that struck residents in Kyushu and central Japan. Three Komeito members took part, with Yasuyuki Eda from the Lower House as well as Masaru Miyazaki and Katsuo Yakura from the Upper House.

The Komeito members urged the government to focus resources and manpower on restoring damaged infrastructure, the rapid disposal of debris and securing temporary housing for the displaced.
