PM Abe accepts Komeito’s digitalization policy proposal on Jun. 30
On June 30, Komeito Policy Research Council chair Noritoshi Ishida led a group of party members to meet with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, at which he submitted a proposal to expedite Japan’s transition to digitize a wide range of public policy domains. Among the specific areas for digitalization the party is seeking are government paperwork and procedures, medical diagnosis and teleoperation, distance and remote learning environments, as well as R&D funding to develop post-5G mobile networks.
Under the proposal, Komeito is also calling for the creation of a Japanese version of the Centers for Disease Control operating in the U.S., preparations to meet the pandemic’s projected second wave and speedy development of COVID-19 vaccine.
