Yamaguchi: Party to informally back Tokyo governor
June 17 , 2020
On June 16, Komeito Chief Representative Natsuo Yamaguchi told reporters that Komeito would be backing Yuriko Koiko, the incumbent governor of Tokyo, in the election to be held on the 18th. He said that Koike had asked for support, to which he replied that given Komeito’s policy track record on working with the governor, the party would be unofficially endorsing her bid for re-election. He added that while Komeito legislators in the Tokyo metropolitan assembly would continue their policy support on various agendas, including the fight against the pandemic, their cooperation would not be unqualified.Search News
