Komeito: don’t count payout to people on welfare as income

On April 21, Komeito’s Policy Research Council and COVID-19 response group met with officials from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare to discuss whether the government’s proposed 100,000-yen payout to every citizen and foreign resident should count as income for welfare recipients. Komeito has argued that it should not count. The ministry agreed, saying it has notified local governments of its decision.Search News
