On April 3, a Komeito COVID-19 response delegation submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare in a meeting with Hisashi Inatsu, a fellow Komeito member who presently serves as the agency’s vice minister. The party is seeking measures to avoid the exponential infection growth and subsequent collapse of the medical infrastructure.

Included in the proposal are the adoption of faster test kits and state medical insurance coverage for online patient diagnosis. Komeito is also calling for increased production of artificial respirators by local manufacturers and expanded funding for a variety of related programs and treatments.
