Komeito proposes economic package to combat viral outbreak

On February 21, Komeito General Secretary Tetsuo Saito said the party is examining policy options to support the economy as Japan struggles to cope with the novel coronavirus outbreak. Pointing to a special state financing program to provide operating capital to smaller hotels and eateries hurt by the viral spread initiated on February 21, Saito said Komeito will be seeking follow-on aid to small- and middle-tier enterprises worth some 500 billion yen. He also said that Komeito will be holding a series of hearings to devise additional support packages for the tourism industry and manufacturers with dealings with China.Search News
