Expand support in medical field

On October 15, Komeito Chief Representative Natsuo Yamaguchi welcomed Atul Khare, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Operational Support. In their meeting the two discussed Japan’s support for the training of UN Peacekeeping Operations (PKO) personnel.

International Affair Committee Chair Masaaki Taniai and Vice Director Hiromi Takase of International Affairs Bureau, both Komeito House of Councilors members, attended the meeting.

Under-Secretary-General Khare expressed gratitude for Japanese assistance in training local operators of heavy machinery for infrastructure development. He also asked Japan to expand rapid-response medical support for UN workers that are injured while engaged in demining operations.
