Komeito Chief Representative Natsuo Yamaguchi attended a national convention of the Liberal Democratic Party, Komeito’s partner in Japan’s coalition government, held in Tokyo on March 25.

Speaking at the convention, Yamaguchi reminded members of the LDP that coalition agreement in which both parties endorsed upon their return to power in 2011 specifically warns against overconfidence and urges humility when engaging in governance. He then called on the LDP to work with Komeito in meticulously tackling the manifold issues Japan faces by humbly heeding the voice of the people.

Yamaguchi also pointed to the Finance Ministry’s tampering of documents related to the sale of state land to the Moritomo Gakuen school operator and declared it was the duty of the government and ruling coalition to get to the truth of the matter and institute a system to ensure that such transgressions will never happen again.
